About the event
It's Music Therapy Awareness month! Although we are not music therapy professionals, we do love and appreciate the therapeutic nature of music for all people!
We'll have some sick blues rock from Danny Sloan, some delicious rhymes from Greg Spokes Labine, and some sultry singing from yours truly. Plus we've got Ryan Clarkson playing the harmonica, and the supremely talented Dave Symington and Graeme Wyman in our rhythm and bass section. And I understand Simon Paradis is making the trip over to play for us as our headliner!! I'm stoked for this show. The music is always incredible and the crew is always such a joy. $5 at the door at The Fairview Pub Vancouver.
All of the artists on stage have what would be called "profound disabilities", and some with multiple disabilities where the art of music is highly integral to their well being in various ways and by various degrees. By both playing and sharing our art form with others, we hope music has some sort of therapeutic benefit for all involved. A lot of our audience will also make up people with disabilities and we hope that our music not only lifts their spirits and inspires them, but also the able bodied and persons with other struggles and challenges, officially recognized or not.
